Emporda bike trip

 

 

 

 

‘Empordà bike trip’ is a cycling tour along L’Empordà, the county with more personality in Catalonia. Many artists such as Salvador Dalí or Josep Pla where born here and inspired for their landscape. Our route invites you to visit differents parts of this region. The vineyards, The Costa Brava, Figueres city, the Roses bay, l’Escala and Sant Martí d’Empúries and its greek ruines, the Natural Park of Aiguamolls, and a long list ….
Also you can enjoy the spirit of the Costa Brava and its natural beaches and rocky landscapes. The Emporda bike trip is totally flat, surrounding mountains like the Montgri Castle and also across some medieval and historical villages such as Pals.

DAY BY DAY

FIRST DAY: Settle down in Girona

Arrival in Girona. Settle down in the hotel and welcome meeting with Touring Catalonia staff to introduce about ‘Emporda bike trip’. Overnight in Girona city where you can visit the olt town, Cathedral, walls, jewish quarter and parks and nice streets. The hotel is located just 2 minutes walking from the center.

 

SECOND DAY: From Girona to L’Estartit

Today you will follow the Ter river until the Mediterranean sea. Crossing small villages and mostly in safe and quiet bike trails. Along the way, you will discover some natural zones and finish in a beach in a Natural park. The hotel is just 50 meters to the beach in L’Estartit, in front of the Medes islands.

 

THIRD DAY: Circular around L’Estartit, the medieval villages

Today it would be a special day, you will bike across the history. The circular route will lead you through different small medieval villages such as Ullastret, Peretallada or the charming Pals. At the end of you will bike back to the Ter river in the Mediterranean sea called La Gola del Ter.

 

FORTH DAY: L’Estartit to Roses, biking along Roses bay

 Biking along the Roses bay is one of the most beautiful experiences that you can have in the Costa Brava, always with the sea on your right side. In Roses you can enjoy its seafront the beach, the citadel and the lighthouse.

FIFTH DAY: Circular Empordà, among the vineyards

Biking among the typical small villages in Alt Empordà such as Vilajuiga, Garriguella, Perelada you will discover the traditional cooperative and cellers of the region. Stop and taste its wine and traditional foods.

SIXTH DAY: From Roses to Figueres

Back to Figueres across small and ancient villages in the countryside, such as Castelló d’Empúries, Vilanova de La Muga or Perelada.And also surronded by vineyards and always with the Pyrenees on the right on your way, it will be the best way to finish your trip in Figueres city: the city of the famous painter Salvador Dalí.

SEVENTH DAY: Sweet Goodbye

Departure after breakfast.

HOW TO ARRIVE


By car:

N-II in France and then AP7 until Figueres.

By train:

You can arrive until Figueres Station. You can check the timetables and prices here: http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/horarios.html
Then a transfer until the hotel (for free).

By plane:

Low cost flights are available to Girona Airport (mainly Ryanair, in Summertime more companies are available). Then Transfer to Figueres or Bus until Girona and train until Figueres. You can check the timetables and prices here: http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/horarios.html. Then a transfer until the hotel (for free).

Other option is the Barcelona option. Then take a bus Barcelona city (20 minuts and free) and a train to Figueres train station (1:30 minuts – 2h:30minuts depends on the train). You can check the timetables and prices here: http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/horarios.html. Then a transfer until the hotel (for free).

Upon a request, we even organize transfers from the airport to the starting point of the cycle tour and to the end point to others.
