This bike path lets you come across the Greenway (La Via Verde) in Girona, cycling through volcanic landscapes full of contrasts at La Garrotxa county, visiting the monumental and lively city of Girona and discovering the most authentic Costa Brava through emblematic cities as Palamós, Llafranc, Calella de Palafrugell and other small coastal towns.
Arrival at Joanetes. Settle down in the hotel and welcome meeting with someone from Touring Catalonia staff to introduce aboute the bike trip. Overnight in the fully restored farmhouse in Joanetes. a small and millenary village in the heart of La Garrotxa county, where the route begins
The route starts in Joanetes and it will lead you to visit some villages of the county such as Les Preses, La Pinya and of course Olot -and if you want- to climb up a volcano you will have the chance. Also you could discover “El parc de la pedra Tosca” or “La Fageda d’en Jordà”, an amazing natural places of the area
Today the route is point to point and it descents from Joanetes to Girona by the Greenway cycle path, an easy and safe path, across the countryside and different ancient villages such Sant Feliu de Pallerols, Les Planes d’Hostoles, Amer or Angles. If you could visit one of these villages, didn’t miss the opportunity. Then, after 4 hours, you will arrive at Girona. There you can visit the Old town, the Cathedral and the magnific Jewish quarter, as well as many historical and art museums. Also, Girona is well-known for its gastronomy. The hotel is located in the city center.
Again, the route the Greenways bike trip continues go down to the Costa Brava. Across some fields and plains, you can reach Cassa de la Selva and Llagostera before arrive at Sant Feliu de Guíxols. There you would enjoy its seafront, its beach and its port.
The last day you will discover many natural beaches and towns. You will bike along the coast most of the time so you can stop, rest and swim at many hidden small beaches during all the day route. Also you can discover typical mediterranean villages such as Calella de Palafrugell.

E15/A9 in France and then AP7 until Girona. Then drive across C-66 and A-26 roads until Olot.
By train:
You can arrive until Girona Station. You can check the timetables and prices here: http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/horarios.html
Then a bus o a transfer until Olot.
By plane:
Low cost flights are available to Girona Airport (mainly Ryanair, in Summertime more companies are available). Then Transfer to Olot or Bus until Girona and another bus until Olot.
Other option is the Barcelona option. Then take a bus Barcelona city (20 minuts and free) and a train to Girona (40 minuts – 1h30minuts depends on the train). Then Bus to Olot or Private transfer
Upon a request, we even organize transfers from the airport to the starting point of the cycle tour and to the end point to others.
